My Experience at 888

I spent an afternoon and evening playing at 888, and I enjoyed the experience. This site offers a huge variety of betting options, loads of bonuses and boosts, and a wealth of exclusive content and features. However, I was impressed by the performance, as the pages loaded up quickly and never buckled under the weight of all that data.

There are also separate apps for each section – 888 Casino, 888 Sport, 888 Poker – so I downloaded them and tried them out. I found them fast and easy-to-use, and I couldn’t find any glitches while I was using them.

Some of the other casinos I’ve played at have lower wagering requirements. I was also a little disappointed that I could only use the bonus credits on slots and not table games. Most sites allow you to play table games, although they don’t count fully towards completing the requirements. However, the 200% bonus is still impressive, and I did end up in a small profit after turning the funds over 35x.

Sport Welcome Bonus

One of the free bets can be used on a football match, and another is available on any horse race. The third free bet can be used on any in-play market on any sport. Any winnings from those free bets are paid in withdrawable cash. I noticed that 888 will sometimes throw in £10 in casino credits as part of the welcome bundle, taking it to a Bet £10, Get £40 bonus. 

Poker Welcome Bonus

New players can use the promo code GET50 to earn a £50 welcome bonus at 888 Poker. You just need to make a deposit of £10 or more to qualify. The £50 bonus will be paid in tournament tickets, spread across your first six days.

Just bear in mind that all sums are quoted in US dollars on 888 Poker, regardless of where in the world you play from. You’ll actually receive $65 in tournament tickets, which may be worth more or less than £50, depending on the exchange rate. You’ll receive 15 free tickets of $1 each on your first day, and then 10 free tickets worth $1 apiece on your second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth days.

Daily Wish

I was surprised to see so many free bet bonuses at 888 Sport. They generally require you to place a qualifying bet on a particular match or sport, and you’ll then earn a free bet. There are loads of different options, but here are some examples I liked the look of:

• Bet £20 on accas each week to receive a £5 free bet.
• Bet £20 on the World Snooker Championship and get a £5 free bet.
• Earn a £20 free bet when you stake £100 or more on horse racing in a week.

There are loads of other examples, covering all sorts of sports, from baseball to rugby. The qualifying bets normally need to be placed at events (1/1) or longer, but the terms vary on each bonus, so check them out before redeeming an offer.

I enjoyed competing in the free-to-play games at 888 Sport. My favourite was “Up for 8.” It lists eight Premier League and Championship games, and you just need to guess the result for each of them. You will earn free bets if you nail 5-7 correct answers, and a share of £10,000 if you get all eight correct. If you’re the only player that predicts each game correctly, the entire £10,000 is yours.

Additional Bonuses and Promotions

There are loads of additional bonuses and promotions on offer at 888. These are some of my favourite offers:

• An £8 bonus if the ball lands on the number 8 when you play live roulette, even if you didn’t bet on that number.
• Enhanced place terms or an extra place when you back a horse each-way on certain races.
• Money back specials on losing sports bets.
• Double result on all UK and Irish racing, so 888 pays first past the post, but you’ll also be paid out if your horse is promoted after a stewards’ enquiry.

How 888’s Bonuses Compare to Other Sites

888 certainly offers more bonuses than most of the other sites I’ve played at. I was also pleased to find some alternative welcome bonuses, which provides new customers with flexibility to choose an offer that suits their tolerance for risk.

The wagering requirements can be high on the casino bonuses, and it’s a shame that you can’t play table games with the credits. There are also minimum odds requirements on the sports betting bonuses, which can be high, but overall, 888 offers a great selection of promotions. 

888 VIP / Loyalty Rewards

You will earn Comp Points by playing casino games at 888. UK players get 1.5 Comp Points for every £10 you stake. You can then exchange your Comp Points for bonus money at a rate of 150 points to £1. This is a simple, effective rewards system.

Poker players also earn weekly rakeback of up to 50%. The amount you spend on cash games will determine your rakeback percentage. Once again, all figures are quoted in dollars:

• $200 – $499 = 10% rakeback
• $500 – $999 = 20% rakeback
• $1,000 – $2,999 = 30% rakeback
• $3,000 – $4,999 = 40% rakeback

Finally, there is an 888 Poker Club rewards system for tournament players. You’ll get 100 points for every $1 in tournament entry fees you pay, and you can also receive points for simply logging into your account, for referring friends and for playing online casino games. Banking Methods at 888

888 offers a long list of banking methods. The list changes in each country, but there are always lots of methods available.

Deposits 

I found the deposit process straightforward. The site warns that deposits can take up to 10 minutes to arrive, but the money appeared instantly when I made a deposit using my Visa debit card. There are no upper limits on deposits, but I’d advise anyone interested in making a very large payment to message the team via live chat to discuss the options.

Withdrawals

A member of the team will then need to process and approve the request. This normally takes up to 24 hours. You’ll receive an email once the request has been approved and the funds have been transferred to you. The transfer can take up to five days, but my bank supports Visa Direct, so I received my money straight away.

The timeframes quoted above include the internal processing times and the transfer times. The site does not charge any withdrawal fees. Some of those methods will only be available if you’ve previously used them when making a deposit, which is a standard anti-money laundering measure that regulated gambling sites use.

888 is one of the world’s leading online casino brands. The company started by offering online casino games, and it then added sports betting, poker and bingo further down the line.

I was impressed by the size of the range of games, which includes more than 1,500 slots, loads of virtual table games, video poker games, a live dealer lobby, online scratchcards and a range of arcade games.

The site is attractive, with bright green text on a dark background, and the games are laid out in an easy-to-browse format. I liked all the different sections on the 888 Casino homepage, such as featured games, in-demand games, new releases, top 10 in the UK, daily jackpot games, Vegas slots and top exclusive slots. That helped me find interesting new games that I hadn’t considered before. I also liked the way it displays the progressive jackpots underneath the slots.

Slots Games

I was pleased to find a huge selection of slots at 888 Casino. I always look out for casinos that offer a wide variety of games, as I like to explore different themes and play lots of different games in a single session.

Some of the world’s best software providers are featured, including NetEnt, Red Tiger, IGT, Pragmatic Play, Playtech, Microgaming, Ash Gaming and Play’n Go. There are loads of Megaways slots, and I was excited to find lots of progressive jackpot slots too. They include daily jackpot games, 8-hour jackpot games and slots with ongoing progressive jackpots, which offer payouts of more than £1 million.

888 also has a large range of exclusive slots. The company previously had its own in-house software studio called Dragonfish, which created a bunch of exclusive games for 888 Casino. The division was sold in December 2021, but 888 still hosts a strong variety of exclusives, including Holy Mackerel, Millionaire Genie Megaways, Mad Max Fury Road and Ramesses Rumble. These are some of my favourite slots:

• Gonzo’s Quest Megaways | Gonzo’s Quest has always been one of my favourite NetEnt slots, but the addition of the Megaways feature dials up the excitement. There are now 117,649 ways to win on this updated version of the classic slot, created by NetEnt’s sister studio, Red Tiger, and it offers a maximum win of 37,500x.
• Reactoonz | I absolutely loved playing this madcap slot from Play’n Go, which offers some of the most inventive bonus features I’ve ever seen. The cluster pays mechanic works well, and the action was far more varied than I’m accustomed to.
• Millionaire Genie Megaways | This exclusive slot had a jackpot of more than £1 million when I played it at 888 Casino. I didn’t win the top prize, sadly, but I still enjoyed the theme and the gameplay.
• Immortal Romance | This 5-reel, 243-payline slot from Microgaming has terrific graphics, bonus features including wild multipliers, and the chance to win 12,000x your bet. I enjoyed the gothic, vampire, haunted house vibe, and I also really like the 96.86% RTP on this slot.

Table Games

There are also dozens of table games at 888 Casino. Blackjack is always my go-to game, so I was pleased to find lots of options. The range includes American blackjack, multi-hand blackjack, low stakes blackjack, VIP blackjack, Zappit blackjack, Super Fun 21 Extreme, Blazing 7s blackjack and more, plus exclusive blackjack games, so there’s something for everyone.

There are no virtual French roulette games, but 888 Casino has five live dealer French roulette options. If you prefer virtual games, there are loads of European roulette options, including fun games like Immortal Romance Roulette and First Person XXXtreme Lightning Roulette.

The range also has baccarat games, plus craps, Sic Bo, Casino War, Top Card, first person game shows, lotto games and more. I really liked the “Poker Paradise” section too. This part of the site rounds up all the table poker games, such as Caribbean Stud, I Luv Suits, Four Card Poker, Mississippi Stud, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Let It Ride, DJ Wild Stud, Three Card Poker and more.

Video Poker

There’s also a special section for video poker games. Lots of UK casinos overlook video poker, but 888 has always had a strong presence in North America, where video poker is very popular.

All the leading games are available: Jack or Better, Aces and Faces, Deuces Wild and Bonus Poker. There are multiple versions of some of those games, and I particularly liked the multi-hand Jacks or Better game.

Casual Games

There is a section for scratchcards at 888 Casino. The games cover all sorts of themes, from Aztec adventures to Ancient Egypt. Another section rounds up all the arcade games, which include crash games, minesweeper-style games, Plinko and LuckyTap games.

You’ll also find Slingo games mixed in with the slots, plus a couple of keno games. The online casino doesn’t host bingo. The company previously had a site called 888 Bingo, but it was sold to Saphalata Holdings for $45.3 million in cash in 2022. You can play at 888 Bingo, but it is no longer part of 888 Holdings, so you’ll need to sign up for a separate account.

Live Dealer Games

Blackjack fans can play from just £1 per hand, but there are also dozens of VIP tables and Soirée Privé tables for high rollers. Fun versions include speed blackjack, Power Blackjack, Lightning Blackjack, Quantum Blackjack Plus and much more.

I was also pleased to find lots of French roulette and European roulette options, plus games like Age of the Gods Bonus Roulette. There are loads of game shows and poker games, plus games in different languages. Evolution Gaming, Playtech and Pragmatic Play are all featured, so 888 Casino hosts all of the world’s best live dealer games.

888 Sport

888 Sport was initially powered by Kambi when it launched in March 2008. However, 888 Holdings then purchased an Irish online bookie called BetBright, and it migrated 888 Sport over to BetBright’s proprietary tech stack.

I found the layout similar to Kambi-powered sportsbooks, but there were some unique betting options and features, which I’ve rounded up below. 888 Sport is similar to the online casino, with a busy homepage, loads of shortcuts and menus, and a great deal of information. Some people might find it a bit cluttered, but I loved the level of detail on the site.

The odds were pretty average, but 888 Sport had the best odds on the market on certain games, so I’d recommend adding this bookie to any odds comparisons you might be running.

Sports

I liked the novelty bets section, which covers events like the Eurovision song contest. There is also a politics betting hub, which takes bets on big events such as the US presidential election.

888 Sport doesn’t just cover the big leagues either. If you want to bet on the Isthmian League, the German Oberliga Hamburg, the Bangladesh Premier League or Uganda Division 2, head to 888 Sport today. You can also bet on dozens of different basketball, hockey and cricket leagues, plus all sorts of small tennis and golf tournaments.

Betting Options

I was also delighted to find a large variety of betting options at 888 Sport. For example, there are more than 300 markets on a typical Premier League game. They range from classics like total goals and both teams to score to obscure markets such as the number of passes a particular player will complete. There is also a Bet Builder tool that allows you to combine multiple bets from the same game into a single acca.

Sports like golf, tennis, American football, basketball, ice hockey and baseball are also covered in exceptional detail. 888 Sport has a superb live betting section too. At any given time, you might find 45 live betting options on an ice hockey game in the Czech Republic, 22 live betting markets on a handball match in Sweden, 18 in-play betting options on a table tennis clash in Russia, and a whole host of live esports, cricket, basketball, tennis and snooker events to wager on. 

888 Sport Features

There are loads of valuable features at 888 Sport. These are some of my favourite features on the site and the app: 

• Odds Boosts | 888 Sport offers odds boosts on lots of sports events each day, from football and rugby matches to horse races. There are loads of boosts on American sports too, including NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL games.
• Stats | Customers can browse very detailed pre-game stats and facts on hundreds of sports events each day at 888 Sport. Just click the bar chart icon to see what’s available.
• Personalized Recommendations | The site lists popular events, and there is also a “Made For You” section, which listed games it thought I might be interested in based on my betting history.
• Cash Out | You can hit the “cash out” option to end an open bet before the game finishes. This could be a good option if your team is winning, but you are worried about a late collapse.
• Live Betting | 888 Sport has a very user-friendly live betting section, which offers competitive odds on a very broad range of betting options on hundreds of games each day.
• Bet Builder | The bet builder at 888 Sport is very easy to use. I was impressed by the number of options I was given when building bets.
• Educational Tools | If you’re new to online sports betting, there is a straightforward sports betting guide at 888 Sport. This guide explains how to read odds and discusses the most popular options in clear terms.
• Blog | The 888 Sport blog features previews of sports events and predictions from various tipsters. There’s also a “Fabrizio” section, where famed football reporter Fabrizio provides his insights.

eSports

The eSports section at 888 Sport covers CS:GO, Call of Duty, League of Legends, Dota 2, Overwatch, StarCraft II, Valorant, Rocket League and Rainbow Six: Siege. I found betting options on major tournaments, but there were also markets on smaller competitions taking place around the world. While it does not offer as many options as sites like Betway, this is still an impressive eSports bookie.

I’m a big CS:GO fan, and I was pleased with the range of markets available. They include match result, handicaps, totals, map bets and more. The odds are pretty decent too. 

Virtual Sports

There’s also a virtual sports section at 888 Sport. I’m not really a fan of virtual games, as there are always loads of real sporting events to bet on at this site, but 888 has you covered if you enjoy that sort of thing.

You can bet on virtual football, horse racing, basketball, greyhounds, Speedway, cycling, motor racing, golf and tennis. These games use random number generators to determine the results, and there are new games and races starting every few minutes.

Horse Racing

The horse racing section is available within 888 Sport. A toolbar menu at the top of the page allows you to check out the next races, browse current meetings, consider ante-post options, or head to the virtuals section. Punters can also search for a specific bet, browse popular bets among fellow customers and see a list of available odds boosts.

This section covers meetings from across the UK and Ireland. You can also bet on racing in key markets such as the United States, Australia, Japan, France and South Africa, plus obscure options like Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and India. I’ve rarely found betting on horse races in those countries, so it was interesting to see them covered at 888.

I was impressed by the level of detail in the racecards too. You will see a Timeform rating and a written blurb about each runner, plus a form guide focusing on past performances. You can also see the odds movements.

888 Poker

The site faces tough competition from PokerStars, Bet365 Poker, Unibet Poker, PartyPoker and various others. However, I can see why 888 Poker is so popular. I found the site easy to navigate, and there are loads of tournaments and cash games, including satellites and daily challenges. 

888 Poker offers decent traffic and liquidity, and the overall skill level seemed pretty average to me. I could tell that there were plenty of inexperienced players on the site when I used it, but there are also some sharks on the hunt for fish.

Cash Games

888 Poker offers a variety of cash games, covering these variants and formats:

There are no-limit cash games starting at $0.01 and $0.02, and you can often enter freerolls, so casual players with small budgets should feel right at home. 888 Poker doesn’t offer as many high-stakes games as PokerStars, so that site is better suited to players with large bankrolls.

Tournaments

You can take part in Sit & Go tournaments, multi-table tournaments, heads-up poker tournaments, satellites, progressive knockouts and mystery bounty tournaments at 888 Poker. It is one of the largest online poker rooms, but it still has a significantly smaller player pool than PokerStars, so the prize pools tend to be lower and the schedule is lighter. The primary focus is on low-limit Hold’em games, but you’ll always find Omaha tables running during peak times.

The tournament line-up is varied too. These are some of the options:

• The Big Shot – the main daily event with the largest prize pools.
• The Rumble – daily progressive knockout tournaments.
• The Dash – turbo tournaments for players seeking rapid fun.
• The Voyage – deepstacks for anyone that enjoys a slower pace.
• The Mayhem – fast-paced, six-max tournaments.
• The Classic – freezeout with shorter late registration.

You can qualify for these tournaments via daily freerolls or by simply buying your way in directly. Tournaments take place throughout the day, but there the action heats up during the evenings and at weekends.

888’s Mobile Experience

• The 888 Casino app has an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 on the App Store and 4 stars on Google Play. The layout is similar to the 888 Casino site, and it carries almost the entire range of games. I found it very easy-to-use, and it didn’t crash when I was playing games. I tried out live dealer games on the app, and they ran smoothly.
• The 888 Sport app has even better average user ratings, and I felt they were fully justified. I could place my bets quickly and easily through the app, and getting paid out was simple too. 

Personally, I don’t like playing poker on my mobile phone, as I prefer to see more features on the desktop screen. However, I know some players like the convenience of mobile play, so I tried it out. I thought the layout was cleverly done, but I sometimes found it difficult to join or leave tables, and some tournaments didn’t load either. The 888 Poker app is highly rated too – 4.4 stars on the App Store and 4.1 stars on Google Play – but I’d recommend using the desktop site instead if possible.

888 is a secure, reliable online gambling site, and here are a few reasons why:

However, I should point out that 888 has a poor record when it comes to responsible gambling failings. The company was fined £9.4 million in 2023 after the Gambling Commission found that it failed to protect vulnerable players or carry out proper money laundering checks. Since then, 888 Holdings has hired a chief risk officer to improve its performance in this department – Harinder Gill, a former Revolut, BNY Mellon and Barclays executive. 

The company says it is now “in a far stronger position from a compliance perspective” after making “significant remedial actions.”

888 Customer Service

888 offers 24/7 live chat if you need support. Just head to the help section and choose the “CHAT” option to start up a conversation. I tried it out a few times to see how responsive the agents were. On the first occasion, it took a few minutes to be put through to an agent, but my requests were answered immediately on the subsequent times I tested it out.

The agents provided accurate replies and they seemed friendly and efficient. Phone support would be great, as rivals like Bet365 offer that option, but the live chat works pretty well. You can also fill in a web form and wait for the team to email you back, or you can browse the large online help section, which is very helpful.

How to Sign Up, Deposit and Withdraw

You can sign up for an account at 888 by following these steps:

• Step 1: Use the link on this page to visit the site and click “SIGN UP.”
• Step 2: Enter your name, country of residence, email address and date of birth. Accept the terms and click “Next.” Choose a username and password, and set up a security question and answer.

Final Verdict on 888

I can see why 888 is one of the world’s most popular gambling sites. The software is superb, and I found the app and the website very easy-to-use. I was impressed by the huge variety of casino games and sports betting options, and the enormous range of bonuses.

There are some flaws with the site. The poker room isn’t as busy as some rivals, although the general skill level seems lower than PokerStars, which is appealing. 888 doesn’t offer phone support, the account verification process can be slow, and the company’s responsible gambling record leaves a lot to be desired, so it’s by no means perfect.
