Former Bantamweight champion Petr Yan is a slighter favorite in the opening bought against Yadong Song. Jack Della Maddalena (-165), Kevin Holland (-130), and Benoit Saint-Denis (-205) also enter Saturday’s PPV as favorites. Sean O’Malley (-270) is the biggest favorite on the main card as he faces Marlon Vera, the only man to beat him in MMA.

Petr Yan (-120) vs. Yadong Song (-110)
The main card for UFC 299 starts with an exciting matchup between two Bantamweight veterans. Former Bantamweight champion Petr Yan is listed as the -120 favorite over Yadong Song (-110). Yan is 1-4 in his last five fights, while Song is 4-1 in that same span.

Yan’s only recent win was a unanimous decision over Corey Sandhagen. Song’s only loss during his last five fights was against Sandhagen.
Both fighters have a 67-inch reach, but Song has a slight height advantage. Despite being five years younger, Song has had more professional MMA fights than Yan, 35 to 21. This should be a standup fight, as these fighters have earned 16 of their combined 20 career finishes via KO.
It is challenging to back Yan, even if he is the slight betting favorite. He has had terrible luck in The Octagon lately, even losing his Bantamweight title to Aljamain Sterling due to an illegal knee. I believe that Yan’s bad luck will continue this weekend when he loses to Yadong Song.
Gilbert Burns (+135) vs. Jack Della Maddalena (-165)
Up next is the first of two Welterweight fights on the main card. Former Welterweight title challenger Gilbert Burns will face Jack Della Maddalena. Sports betting sites have Della Maddalena listed as the -165 favorite for this fight.
Burn is just 3-3 in his last six fights, which include an unsuccessful challenge for the title against then-Welterweight champ Kamaru Usman. Della Maddalena has only fought six times in the UFC and is 6-0. He lost the first two fights in his professional career and won 16 straight since.
Della Maddalena has 13 career finishes, including 11 KOs. He is currently ranked 11th in the division but could make a huge jump in the standings if he beats the fourth-ranked Burns.
I believe Della Maddalena will win this weekend. He is the younger fighter and has advantages in height and reach. Burns has struggled lately in the UFC, and I do not see that changing this weekend.
Kevin Holland (-130) vs. Michael Page (+100)
After years of dominating Bellator, Michael “Venom” Page will finally make his UFC debut. MVP spent a decade in Bellator, earning a 17-2 record with the promotion. Page is listed at even money, making him a slight underdog in his UFC debut as he takes on Kevin Holland (-130).

Holland, the 13th-ranked Welterweight, will be a good test for MVP in his first UFC fight. Although he has lost three of his last five fights, Holland is still one of the best fighters in the world at 170 pounds.
Other fighters that have jumped to The Octagon from Bellator have struggled in recent years. Michael Chandler, for instance, went 18-5 in Bellator but is just 2-3 in the UFC. On the other hand, Chandler could be Conor McGregor’s next opponent.
I believe MVP will fare better than Chandler in his move to the UFC. Page has 16 career finishes, including 13 in the first round. Page should win this weekend and will likely take Holland’s spot in the top 15.
Dustin Poirier (+170) vs. Benoit Saint-Denis (-205)
The co-main event of UFC 299 is a Lightweight fight between Dustin Poirier and Benoit Saint-Denis. BetUS has Poirier listed as the +170 underdog for this fight. Saint-Denis, who is currently ranked 12th in the division, is listed at -205 in the current UFC 299 odds.
Poirier is the 3rd-ranked fighter at Lightweight, but he has lost two of his last three fights. He was knocked out in his last fight at UFC 291. Six of Poirier’s eight career losses have come via stoppage.
Saint-Denis (13-1) lost his promotional debut at UFC 267 but has reeled off five straight wins since. He has finished all of his opponents over that stretch, increasing his career finishes to 13. Saint-Denis has been on a tear since joining the UFC, but Poirier is his biggest challenge thus far.
Poirier is the veteran, but Saint-Denis is the future of the division. I believe Saint-Denis will win this weekend over Poirier in an exciting fight. Also, I think Saint-Denis will get the finish, improve his finish and win totals to 14.
Sean O’Malley (-270) vs. Marlon Vera (+215)
The main event this Saturday is a title fight between Bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera. O’Malley won the belt at UFC 292, and this will be his first attempt to defend it. Oddsmakers have O’Malley listed as the -270 favorite.

Vera is the 5th ranked fighter at 135 pounds, but he was able to jump the line for one reason: Vera beat O’Malley at UFC 252. The champ has refused to acknowledge the loss, though, since he suffered an ankle injury in the fight. Vera has earned a 5-2 record in his seven fights since.
O’Malley is 5-0, 1 NC since Sean O’Malley vs. Chito Vera 1, and has stopped four opponents over that stretch. I believe that the controversial loss in their first fight will only make O’Malley more determined this time around.
I would not count Vera out completely, though, since he did win the first fight. He has also competed well in his fights since UFC 252 and has earned finishes in 18 of 23 career wins. I do believe that O’Malley will win this rematch, though, and would bet on the champ to retain this weekend.
