Updated Super Bowl 59 Odds and Predictions
Philadelphia was the favorite in the Super Bowl 59 winner odds ahead of Conference Championship Weekend. However, the Eagles are now underdogs for their Big Game rematch against the Chiefs in New Orleans.
Here are the latest Super Bowl 59 odds, courtesy of Bovada.
Team | Point Spread | Moneyline | Total |
Kansas City Chiefs | -1.0 (-105) | -115 | Over 48.5 (-105) |
Philadelphia Eagles | +1.0 (-105) | +105 | Under 48.5 (-105) |
Kansas City Chiefs -1 (-115)
Another Chiefs playoff game, another win for Kansas City, thanks to questionable officiating. Am I surprised? No, I baked in the referees’ favoritism of the Chiefs into my Super Bowl 59 matchup predictions.
Philly was the favorite for their Super Bowl 57 matchup, but the Chiefs won 38-35. On paper, the Chiefs should have a more challenging time beating the Eagles this time. Kansas City’s roster is not as good as it was two years ago, and Philly’s has improved on both sides of the ball.
Despite that, KC is the favorite instead of the Eagles. The Chiefs have the advantages where they count the most: coach and quarterback. Philly’s offensive line injuries will also make it nearly impossible to stop the Chiefs’ blitz-happy defense.
Philadelphia Eagles +1 (-105)
The other half of this year’s Super Bowl 59 matchup is the Eagles. Philadelphia is getting 1.0 point in the updated odds. The Eagles were 1.5-point underdogs at most football betting sites last week, so their odds have improved slightly in the days leading up to the Big Game.
Philly’s game plan in the playoffs so far has been simple: hand the ball to Saquon Barkley. The All-Pro running back can break multiple records on Sunday, including the most rushing yards in the playoffs in a season and the single-season rushing yards record (regular and postseason).
On the other hand, the Chiefs’ defense has been great at stopping running backs this season, and Philly’s offensive line is beat up. If Barkley cannot finish the job, then more pressure will be on Jalen Hurts to move the ball through the air.
Philadelphia’s defense is also a concern this weekend. The Eagles’ rebuilt defense has been fantastic this season, but they have relied on a lot of young players rising to the moment. If rookies, like Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, or untested veterans, like Zack Baun, cannot hold up, Philly will be in trouble.
Super Bowl 59 Prediction
Chiefs over Eagles was my Super Bowl 59 prediction at the start of the playoffs. So far, both teams have held up their end of the bargain by making it to the Big Game in New Orleans.
The Eagles are a more explosive team, have a better roster, and have the best non-quarterback in Saquon Barkley. Despite all of that, they are underdogs for a good reason. Kansas City has Mahomes, Andy Reid, and, according to some, the support of the referees.
I picked the Chiefs to win it all when they were listed at +500 odds in mid-December. KC opened the playoffs at +325 odds, and I stuck by the defending champs.
The Chiefs are now -115 favorites in Super Bowl 59 against my NFC Champion pick, Philly, and I see no reason to change my pick. Kansas City will win, and, since it has dwindled to just 1 point, they will easily cover the spread, too.
- Prediction: Chiefs -1 -105
