Patrick Mahomes has led the Chiefs to four Super Bowl appearances in three wins in his seven years as a starter. He has three Super Bowl MVPs to go along with his three Lombardi trophies. Mahomes is the +115 favorite to win the Super Bowl MVP again this year.

Saquon Barkley has the second-best odds at +250, and his quarterback, Jalen Hurts, is close behind him at +300. Philadelphia is the underdog for this Big Game rematch, so Barkley and Hurts will likely need to pull off an upset to have a chance at the MVP.

Travis Kelce is listed at +1550 to become the first tight end to win MVP of the Super Bowl. A.J. Brown and Xavier Worthy are tied for the fifth-best •Super Bowl 59 MVP odds at +2800. Chris Jones and Jalen Carter are tied for the best odds of any defensive player at 60-1 each.

Patrick Mahomes (+115)

Players from the winning team have won 57 of the 58 Super Bowl MVP awards. Three of those awards have gone to Patrick Mahomes. Despite disappointing regular season stats, Mahomes has once again taken his game to a new level in the playoffs.

Mahomes will need to continue to play at a high level for the Chiefs to beat the Eagles’ top-ranked defense. The good news for Chiefs fans is that Mahomes has risen to the occasion in three of the four Super Bowls he has appeared in so far in his career.

When these teams faced off two years ago, Mahomes completed 21 of his 27 pass attempts but only had 182 passing yards. He also had three passing touchdowns and led a fourth-quarter comeback en route to winning the MVP.

Saquon Barkley (+250)

Saquon Barkley’s historic first season in Philadelphia has led the Eagles all the way to the Super Bowl. In three games so far this playoffs, Barkley has averaged the following:

  • 6.7 rush YPC
  • 147.3 rush YPG
  • 22 attempts per game

Barkley has been productive with his workload, totaling 442 rushing yards and five touchdowns so far in the playoffs. He has also accounted for 15 first downs and has four rushes of over 20 yards in the postseason.

Philadelphia needs Barkley to continue playing like an MVP finalist to have a shot at beating the two-time defending champions. Running against KC’s defense has been easier said than done this season. The Chiefs allowed just 101.8 rushing YPG in the regular season, the eighth-fewest in the NFL.

Injuries could also derail Barkley’s hopes of winning Super Bowl MVP. The All-Pro running back appeared to hurt his calf in the NFC Championship Game. Philadelphia is also dealing with issues at the center position, so Barkley’s blocking could be compromised.

Jalen Hurts (+300)

A close third to Barkley in the current Super Bowl 2025 MVP odds at secure sports betting sites is Jalen Hurts. Philly’s quarterback is the first QB to make it back to the Super Bowl after losing their Big Game debut since Jim Kelly in the early 1990s.

Hurts and the Eagles’ passing attack have struggled this season. On the other hand, Hurts had one of the best games of his career against Kansas City in Super Bowl 57. He completed 27 of his 38 pass attempts for 304 yards while accounting for four total touchdowns and a two-point conversion.

Philly’s quarterback must be even better this year to dethrone Mahomes and company. Despite his impressive stat line, Hurts also had a costly fumble that led to a scoop-and-score for Nick Bolton. Philly also came up short in the box score, losing the KC 38-35.

The Eagles’ offense flows through Barkley, but the Chiefs will assuredly sell out to stop the run. In theory, that will open up opportunities for Hurts to move the ball through the air. If he capitalizes on those chances, Hurts can win Super Bowl MVP if Philly pulls off the upset.

Travis Kelce (+1550)

Taylor Swift’s boyfriend’s NFL career is closer to the end than the beginning. At 35 years old, Travis Kelce does not have much time left in the NFL. His last two regular seasons have been disappointing, but Kelce is still at his best in the playoffs.

Kelce has already broken several playoff records, including most career postseason receptions, and he can break more on Super Bowl Sunday. He is just two touchdowns and 206 yards behind Jerry Rice’s career playoff TD and receiving yards records.

Tying or breaking either of those records will require an MVP-level performance from Kelce. If this is his last game, expect Mahomes to get Kelce the ball early and often against an inexperienced Eagles secondary. At +1550 odds, even a small bet on Kelce to become the first tight end to win Super Bowl MVP could lead to a big payout.

Chris Jones (+6000)

The value on defensive MVP candidates is even better. All-Pro DT Chris Jones is listed at +6000 in Bovada’s Super Bowl MVP betting odds. He is tied for the best odds of any defensive player to win MVP of Super Bowl 59.

Jones is a future Hall of Famer, but his disruptive presence does not always show up on the stat sheet. For instance, he only has 3.5 sacks in his 21 career playoff games. Despite the lack of stats, there is no denying Jones’s impact on the Chiefs’ defensive line.

KC needs Jones to be at his best to contain the Eagles’ rushing attack. On the off chance that Mahomes has a lackluster showing in a Chiefs win, a strong performance by Jones could help him become the fourth defensive Super Bowl MVP since 2000.

Zack Baun (+8000)

Philadelphia has plenty of great names on defense as well, including break-out star MLB Zack Baun. Baun joined the Eagles in free agency last summer and earned All-Pro honors in his first year in Philly. Some of Baun’s impressive stats from his break-out year include:

  • 151 combined tackles (T-6th)
  • 93 solo tackles (T-3rd)
  • 11 TFLs (T-32)

Baun also had 3.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, and four passes defended in the regular season. He has the most combined tackles, 29, of any player remaining in the playoffs.

His impact on the Eagles’ defense is undeniable, but Baun will be tested against the Chiefs. If he rises to the challenge and Philadelphia pulls off the impossible upset, then Baun should be in the MVP discussion. At +8000 odd, the All-Pro offers a ton of value as a sleeper in this Super Bowl 59 futures wager.

Super Bowl 59 MVP Predictions

The Chiefs and the Eagles will face off in the Big Game for the second time in the last three years. Kansas City has won back-to-back Super Bowls, and Patrick Mahomes has claimed the MVP both times. He also won the award for his performance in Super Bowl 54.

Mahomes is the +115 favorite to win his fourth Super Bowl MVP. Quarterbacks have won 33 of the 58 Super Bowl MVP awards, and no QB has won it from the losing team. I think the Chiefs will, thanks in no small part to the officials, win Super Bowl 59.

With that in mind, Mahomes (+115) is my Super Bowl 59 MVP prediction. There is a small chance that another Chiefs player will claim the award, like Travis Kelce (+1550) or Chris Jones (+6000). Of the two, I would take Jones as a sleeper because he plays a less dependent position, and no tight end has ever won the MVP.

  • Safe Bet: Patrick Mahomes +115
  • Value Bet: Chris Jones +6000
