The United States leads all countries in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic gold medal odds. Oddsmakers have the US favored to win the most gold medals out of any country competing in France this summer.

This betting guide will help you get the most out of betting on the Olympics at the top sports betting sites. It provides an in-depth look at the latest Olympic 2024 betting odds for each country. I will discuss the total goal medal count predictions for the top countries and give my predictions for the Paris Olympics.

2024 Paris Summer Olympics Medal Betting Odds

August 8 Update:

The Paris Olympics are underway, and countries are doing their best to dethrone the US from the top of the medal table. Despite a slow start, the US currently leads all countries in total medals and total gold medals as the second week of the games winds down.

Which Country has the Most Gold Medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics?

Winning any Olympic medal is impressive, but the gold medal is the ultimate prize available at the Olympics. Here are the current leaders in total gold medals through the first 11 days of the games:

  • USA – 24 gold medals
  • China – 22 gold medals
  • Australia – 14 gold medals
  • France – 13 gold medals
  • Great Britain – 12 gold medals
  • South Korea – 11 gold medals
  • Japan – 11 gold medals

Only seven countries have reached double-digit gold medals so far in Paris. The US has 24 total golds, just slightly ahead of China with 22 golds. It is a good start, but American athletes will need to pick up the pace to cover its over/under of 40.5 gold medals.

The US also opened at -900 to win the most gold medals at BetUS, with China as a distant second at +350. Based on the results so far, China is at least within striking distance of upsetting the US for most total gold medals.

On the other hand, there are plenty of events left on the schedule that the US is favored to win. For instance, the USA is a heavy favorite to win gold in both the women’s and men’s Olympic basketball odds. There are also plenty of gold medals still up for grabs in athletics, including the 200-meter sprint.

Who Has the Most Total Medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics So Far?

Winning the most gold medals is not the only way to make a case for a country being the unofficial “winner” of the Olympics. You can also compare countries by their total medal count. Here are the current leaders on the 2024 Paris medal table based on their total gold, silver, and bronze medals:

  • USA – 86 total medals
  • China – 59 total medals
  • France – 48 total medals
  • Great Britain – 46 total medals
  • Australia – 35 total medals

Five countries have won 35 or more total medals so far at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The US leads all countries with 85 total medals, well ahead of China’s 59. France, the host country, rounds out the top three in the current medal table with 48 medals.

The USA opened as -2500 favorites to win the medal table, so it is not surprising that they are dominating in total medals. Likewise, China had the second-best opening odds at +900, so it is no surprise that they currently have the second-most. One country outperforming its projection is France, which had +8000 odds, just the fifth-best, but currently sits in third.

I would be surprised if the US and China do not maintain first and second place, respectively, on the medal table for the rest of the Olympics. However, I doubt that France will stay in third as it only has a two-medal lead over Great Britain, which was tied for the third-best odds to win the medal table this year.

The eyes of sports fans worldwide will be on Paris, France, for the 2024 Olympics this summer. Dozens of countries will be represented, but only one country can “win” the Olympics.

Check out the table below to see the current Olympic medal betting odds for which country will win the medal table and who will take home the most gold medals. The odds below were provided by BetUS Sportsbook.

CountryOdds to Win Medal TableOdds to Win Most Gold Medals
USA-2500-900
China+900+350
Japan+5000+8000
Great Britain+5000+8000
France+8000+6500
Italy+20000+50000
Australia+20000+20000
Germany+20000+25000
Netherlands+35000+20000

The US is the favorite to claim the most gold medals (-900) and to win the 2024 Olympic medal table overall (-2500). China has the second-best odds in both markets, but is a distant second to the US.

BetUS also allows you to wager on specific totals for many countries competing in Paris this summer. For instance, you can wager on the total Olympic gold medal odds for countries like the US.

USA’s Total Gold MedalsOlympics 2024 Betting Odds
Over 40.5 Gold Medals-130
Under 40.5 Gold Medals-110

The oddsmakers at BetUS have the US listed at over/under 40.5 total gold medals at this year’s Olympics. For reference, the US won 39 gold medals, one ahead of China for the most in the 2020 Olympic Games. The US is favored to cover their total by winning at least 41 gold medals this time around.

There are hundreds of betting markets that are specially crafted for the Olympics every four years. Betting on Olympic medal totals is the best way to wager on every event without spending all of your bankroll.

Total Gold Medals for USA

As I mentioned above, the US is listed at over/under 40.5 total gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The over is the -130 favorite in the latest Olympic medal betting odds. To cover the over, US athletes must win two more gold medals than they won in 2021 in Tokyo.

American athletes combined for 48 and 46 gold medals in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, respectively. Despite a down year in 2021, it is reasonable to assume that the US will top 40.5 gold medals again in Paris.

Prediction: USA wins over 40.5 gold medals (-130)

Country with the Most Gold Medals

In addition to wagering on specific country medal counts, you can also wager on Olympic medal count odds for which country will win the most gold medals. The US has won the most golds in each of the last three Olympics. China beat the US in total golds 48-36 in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Oddsmakers have the USA listed as the -900 favorites to win the most gold medals again this summer. China, which has finished second in total gold medals in two of the last three Olympics, is the closest competitor at +350. The odds fall off dramatically after China, with France having the third-best odds at +6500.

French athletes will have plenty to compete for to defend their home turf. Competitors from the host country have outperformed their expectations in the past. However, it would take a historical leap for France to beat the UA after winning just 10 golds in each of the last two Olympics.

I believe the US will clear 41 total gold medals, which should be more than any other country this summer. With that in mind, I would bet on the USA in this Olympics medal count wager.

Prediction: The USA wins the most gold medals (-900)

Country with the Most Total Medals

You can also wager on betting markets on total Olympic medals for each country. The US is once again the favorite in these markets, and BetUS has American athletes listed as the -2500 favorites to win the most medals this summer.

All medals count equally in this market, which gives Americans even more of an edge. They won the medal table in 2021, taking home 113 total medals. The next closest was China, which had 89 medals, and the ROC rounded out the top three with 71 medals.

American athletes’ dominance on the medal table in Tokyo cannot be understated. In addition to winning the most gold, they also won the most silver medals (41) and the most bronze medals (33).

All signs point toward another dominant performance from American athletes this summer. Betting on -2500 odds does not offer as much value as other options, but it is a very safe wager. I would bet on the US in this market and even consider using it as a relatively secure leg in a parlay.

Prediction: USA wins the medal table (-2500)
