Ohio State is a heavy favorite in the latest CFB Playoff odds ahead of Monday’s National Championship Game. The Buckeyes will face Notre Dame for the Natty at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
Keep reading to see the updated playoff odds for the CFB title game. I will break down the latest odds and highlight my favorite bets at top college football betting sites for Monday’s CFP title game.
2024-2025 National Championship Odds
Bovada has exciting CFB playoff betting odds for Monday’s showdown between the Buckeyes and the Fighting Irish. Here are the current odds for this season’s championship game.
Team | Point Spread | Moneyline | Total |
Ohio State | -8.0 (-110) | -360 | Over 46.0 (-110) |
Notre Dame | +8.0 (-110) | +280 | Under 46.0 (-110) |
The Buckeyes have defeated two of the top favorites in this year’s playoff, Oregon and Texas. Ohio State is now an 8.0-point favorite to win the Natty on Monday. Notre Dame, conversely, is a +280 underdog to win its first National Championship since 1988.
Oddsmakers are not predicting a high-scoring game, as the point total is set at over/under 46.0 points. The last National Championship to have a total under 46.0 was in the 2011 season when Alabama beat LSU 21-0.
Ohio State -8.0 (-110)
Ohio State is laying 8.0 points in the current CFB National Championship odds. The Buckeyes have won all three of the playoff games so far by at least 14 points.
During the regular season, Ohio State averaged 37.4 points per game while holding opponents to just 12.2 PPG. Their defense has been less stout in the playoffs, allowing at least 14 points in each game. However, their offense has scored 41+ points in two of their three postseason games this year.
The Buckeyes have not been unbeatable, though, dropping their regular season matchups against Oregon and Michigan. The Ducks won a shootout at home, while the Wolverines baited the Buckeyes into a low-scoring, run-heavy game. If Ohio State sticks it its high-flying offense, it will overwhelm Notre Dame.
Notre Dame +8.0 (-110)
Speaking of the Fighting Irish, they are getting 8.0 points in their first National Title game appearance of the CFP era. Notre Dame last played for a Natty in 2012, the penultimate year of the BCS format.
The Fighting Irish entered the playoffs with +400 odds of making the championship game and +700 odds of winning it all. Notre Dame beat Indiana, Georgia, and Penn State so far this postseason. The Buckeyes, who have arguably the best roster in college football, will be the toughest test Notre Dame has faced this season.
Notre Dame is a heavy underdog, and rightfully so, but they should not be counted out on Monday. The Fighting Irish defense held opponents to just 14.3 PPG in the regular season, second only to the Buckeyes this year. If Notre Dame can force the Buckeyes into a dogfight, they can win.
Buckeyes Defense Takes Down Texas
One of the best ways to prepare to bet on the above CFB playoff odds is to watch each team’s playoff performance. Ohio State dominated its first two playoff games, winning by a combined score of 83-38. The Buckeyes faced a much more challenging opponent in the semifinals, but their defense stepped up when it mattered most.
Texas and Ohio State were tied at 14 apiece entering the fourth quarter. Quinshon Judkins’ 1-yard touchdown run, his second score of the day, gave the Buckeyes a touchdown lead. But it was Ohio State’s defense that sealed the win.
Quinn Ewers drove Texas down the field for a chance to tie the game. Unfortunately for Ewers, Jack Sawyer, his former roommate when he was at OSU, had other plans. Sawyer forced a fumble and returned the ball 83 yards for the game-sealing score.
Notre Dame’s Game-Winner Against Penn State
Notre Dame’s defense has also been a key part of the Fighting Irish’s success this postseason. They held Indiana and Georgia to a combined 27 points in their first two playoff matchups.
The Fighting Irish had a tougher time against Penn State, and the Nittany Lions took a 10-3 halftime lead. Notre Dame tied the game in the third, setting up an exciting final frame. Riley Leonard and company outscored Penn State 17-14 in the fourth, winning the game on a walk-off field goal.
Notre Dame needs to be better on both sides of the ball to win on Monday. Leonard threw two interceptions against Penn State, and Jeremiyah Love led the team with just 45 yards rushing. If Notre Dame’s offensive struggles continue, they will not be able to keep pace with the Buckeyes.
CFB National Championship Predictions
Getting to the National Championship in the new 12-team playoff format was challenging. Notre Dame and Ohio State both won three playoff games to earn their spots in the title game, but one of them must lose on Monday.
The Buckeyes are the more talented team, which is a big reason they are favored by 8.0 points. Their biggest hurdle to winning the championship this year could be Ryan Day’s history of losing the most important games.
Despite Day’s previous shortcomings, I think the Buckeyes will end Notre Dame’s impressive season. Ohio State has the advantage across the board, and their experience will help them win the National Championship and cover the 8.0-point spread.
Best CFB National Championship Prop Bets
Bovada also offers thrilling prop bets for Monday’s National Championship Game. Here are my top three CFB national championship prop odds markets.
TreVeyon Henderson Anytime TD Scorer (-110)
Running backs TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins accounted for all three of Ohio State’s offensive scores against Texas. Notre Dame has a great run defense, but Henderson is also a threat in the passing game. Bovada lists Henderson at -110 in its National Championship anytime TD scorer markets.
Including his 75-yard receiving touchdown against the Longhorns, Henderson has 11 scores in the 15 games he has played in this season. I think he will get his 12th score on Monday against Notre Dame.
Riley Leonard Over 13.5 Rush Attempts (-115)
Notre Dame’s title hopes rest on the shoulders of Riley Leonard. The Senior QB transferred to ND after spending his first three seasons at Duke. Leonard’s postseason stats do not blow anyone away, but he has done just enough to get the Fighting Irish to the championship game.
Leonard’s rushing ability has been a key part of Notre Dame’s success in the playoffs. He has 145 rushing yards on 43 carries so far in the playoffs and led the team with 80 yards rushing in their win over Georgia.
Bovada lists Leonard at over/under 13.5 rushing attempts for Monday’s title game. Leonard has averaged over 14 rushing attempts per game in the playoffs, and I think he will cover his total in this CFP title game prop wager.
Emeka Egbuka Over 57.5 Receiving Yards (-115)
Jeremiah Smith was a breakout star as a true freshman this season, and his emergence overshadowed Emeka Egbuka’s final year with the Buckeyes. Egbuka is still a talented receiver and has one final game to impress scouts before April’s NFL draft.
Egbuka is listed at over/under 57.5 receiving yards in the CFP title game. He has had at least 51 receiving yards in five straight games and topped 70 yards in three of those appearances.
The Buckeyes used a run-heavy approach to beat Texas, but they must move the ball through the air to beat Notre Dame’s top-notch run defense. With that in mind, I think Egbuka will cover his receiving yards total against the Fighting Irish.
