Best NFL Week 16 Point Spreads
Three of my four point spread picks covered last week. Buffalo (+2.5), Philadelphia (-5.5), and Atlanta (-3.5) all pulled through. The lone exception was the Giants, who failed to cover a 15.5-point spread against Baltimore.
Bovada is loaded with even more exciting point-spread bets this week. Here are my picks for the best NFL Week 16 point spread bets.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens (-6.0) (-115)
The AFC North title is on the line this week in Baltimore as the Ravens (9-5) host the Steelers (10-4). Baltimore lost their first matchup against Pittsburgh, but they are 6.0-point home favorites in their regular season rematch.
Lamar Jackson has struggled against the Steelers in his career, but this week will be different. First and foremost, Pittsburgh’s MVP, T.J. Watt, suffered an ankle injury against the Eagles last week. Watt will play, but the injury could limit his production.
Also, the Ravens are the more rested team after their Week 14 bye. Baltimore is the more desperate team, too, and they will win this game. Given the Steelers’ injuries, I doubt Pittsburgh will be able to keep up on the scoreboard, and Baltimore will cover the 6.0-point spread.
New York Giants (+8.5) vs. Atlanta Falcons (-110)
The Atlanta Falcons finally pulled the plug on the Kirk Cousins experiment and benched their big free-agent signee. Atlanta will start rookie Michael Penix, Jr., who the team drafted with the eighth overall pick in a surprise move.
Penix has the talent to succeed in the Falcons offense, but the line for this game is too big. Atlanta was a 10-point favorite before Kirko lost his starting job. After Penix was announced as the starter, Atlanta’s line shifted to -8.5.
A point spread that large is too much to bet on when the Falcons are starting a rookie quarterback in his NFL debut. New York is a bad team, but its defense has quality players. I do not think the Giants will win this matchup, but their defense should be able to step up and keep the game within one score against a rookie quarterback.
Tennessee Titans vs. Indianapolis Colts (-3.5)
Tennessee and Indianapolis conclude their AFC South regular season series this week. The Colts are 3.5-point home favorites, and I think they will do enough to cover against the lowly Titans. Indy won their first matchup against Tennessee by a field goal, but that game was on the road.
The Colts are returning home after a tough 31-13 to the Broncos. Jonathan Talor had a touchdown that would have put Indy up 20-7, but he dropped the ball before going into the endzone. The Colts were outscored 24-0 after Taylor’s unforced error.
Indianapolis has plenty of frustrations to work out this week, and Tennessee is the perfect opponent for them. I would be more confident if Will Levis were still the starter, but I think the Colts can win and cover against the Mason Rudolph-led Titans.
Cleveland Browns (+7.5) vs. Cincinnati Bengals (-110)
Rounding out my list of Week 16 NFL best point spread bets are the Cleveland Browns. Secure sportsbooks have the Browns getting 7.5 points this week in Cincinnati. The Bengals beat Cleveland 21-14 in their first matchup in October.
This pick has less to do with the Browns and more with Joe Burrow’s struggles against Cleveland. Cincinnati is just 2-5 against Cleveland with Burrow as its starter. Burrow should pick up his third career win against the Browns, but I like Cleveland to cover.
Cleveland will be starting Dorian Thompson-Robinson as quarterback, and Nick Chubb broke his foot last week. Despite these changes, this AFC North matchup will be a close game. Cleveland coves, but Cincinnati wins and keeps its slim playoff hopes alive.
NFL Week 16 Moneylines and Underdogs
Bovada has exciting moneyline odds available for football fans as well. As I predicted, Dallas, Kansas City, and Cincinnati all won last week. However, the Dolphins’ 20-12 loss kept me from a perfect 4-0 week.
Here are my picks for the NFL’s best moneyline bets in Week 16.
Philadelphia Eagles (-185) vs. Washington Commanders
Philadelphia (12-2) is just a half-game behind the Detroit Lions (12-2) for the top seed in the NFC. The Eagles can keep pace with the Lions for the top seed with a win this weekend against the Commanders. Philly beat Washington 26-18 in their first matchup of the season.
Sweeping a divisional opponent is easier said than done, but the Eagles are flying high at this point in the season. Washington’s run defense was no match for Philly’s rushing attack in Week 11, and they will fall short again this time around. Philly will win this game and improve to 13-2 on the season.
Detroit Lions (-300) vs. Chicago Bears
Speaking of teams competing for the top seed in the NFC, the Lions also face a divisional opponent this week. Detroit’s loss to Buffalo last week ended its 11-game winning streak. The Lions face an easier matchup this week against the Bears, who have lost eight consecutive games.
Detroit will complete the season sweep of Chicago this week, but the Lions’ injuries make them a risky bet to cover the 6.5-point spread. A healthier Lions team needed coaching misstep to beat the Bears 23-20 on Thanksgiving. With that in mind, I think the Lions’ moneyline is the best bet in this matchup.
San Francisco 49ers (-105) vs. Miami Dolphins
Next on my list of NFL Week 16 best moneyline bets is the 49ers. San Franciso is a 1.0-point underdog this week in Miami against the Dolphins. Both teams are coming off crushing losses that likely ended their respective playoff hopes. Despite their injuries on offense, I think the 49ers can win this game against the Dolphins.
The weather played a big part in the 49ers’ loss to the Rams last week. Jauan Jennings, Deebo Samuel, and George Kittle caught only nine passes on 23 targets in the rainy conditions.
Assuming the 49ers’ remaining star players remember how to catch the ball, they should beat the Dolphins. Miami can dominate bad teams, but it struggles against good teams. San Francisco’s injuries will keep it out of the playoffs, but the 49ers are still a good enough team to beat the Dolphins.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-210) vs. Dallas Cowboys
My final NFL best bet for Week 16 is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers moneyline. The Bucs are -210 road favorites against the Cowboys in Dallas. Tampa holds a slim lead in the NFC South and needs a win to keep its spot in the playoffs.
Dallas, on the other hand, has only won one game at home this season. The Cowboys beat the Giants on Thanksgiving. Tampa Bay is coming off a massive 40-17 win over the Chargers, and they will get another road win this week against Dallas.
