AI and Donald Trump Co-Favorites to be Time Person of the Year 2024
We have a tie at the top of the odds boards for the Time Person of the Year. GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump has the same odds as artificial intelligence itself. Many other celebrities, including Joe Biden, Elon Musk, and reigning Time Person of the Year Taylor Swift, are also candidates for the award.
I will break down the current Time Person of the Year odds for all of the top candidates along with my predictions. Also, I will tell you how to bet on entertainment odds online using the top sportsbooks.
2024 Time Person of the Year Odds
The Time Person of the Year is a person who has, for better or worse, had the biggest influence on the world in the past year. Previous winners include singers, civil rights leaders, and nearly every US President since 1927. Groups of people, like the 2017 Silence Breakers, and abstract ideas, such as the Spirit of Ukraine, have also won the honor.

AI/Artificial Intelligence (+500)
Artificial Intelligence is tied for the best odds to be named Time Person of the Year 2024. AI is listed at +500 in the latest odds at Bovada.
AI has certainly had a major influence on society in the last year. More businesses than ever have started to implement AI software in one way or another. Even social media sites like X and Facebook have made AI a part of their platforms.
The first-ever AI beauty contest will also take place this year. As AI becomes more and more a part of our daily lives, it will be more challenging to deny its influence. Even detractors of AI cannot deny that it has been influential over the past year.
As I mentioned above, the influence of the winner does not necessarily need to be positive. So, even if the voters are anti-AI, it can still win the award based solely on the amount of influence it has had.
Donald Trump (+500)
The other candidate listed at 5-1 odds is former President Donald Trump. He won the award in 2016 and came in second in 2017. Much like AI, whether you like Trump or not, the influence he has had on society is undeniable.
Trump has spent a lot of time this year in various courtrooms combating his legal issues. Despite this, he is still the presumptive GOP nominee for this November’s election. Trump is also favored to win the 2024 election.
Depending on who you believe, Trump would have won this award in back-to-back years, but he refused to sit down for an interview with Time magazine. Time has denied this accusation, but the situation could prevent Trump from winning the award ever again.
If Trump does win the election in November, though, it may be impossible to deny him the award. Being elected president despite dealing with all of the other things on Trump’s plate would certainly demonstrate his influence.
Joe Biden (+600)
Another previous winner that has favorable odds to be the Time Person of the Year 2024 is President Joe Biden. The President won the award in 2020 when he and Vice President Kamala Harris shared the honor.
As the President, it is easier for Biden to influence the events of 2024 than many other nominees. However, he would likely need to win the 2024 election to win Time Person of the Year. Plenty of Presidents have won the award multiple times, but their second win usually comes after winning their second term.
Winning re-election will be easier said than done for Biden. He is behind Trump in many polls, and Biden’s approval rating continues to decline. If his campaign continues to struggle heading into November, then Biden can forget about winning re-election or Time Person of the Year.
It is not all bad for Biden, though, and he still has time to turn things around. With the exception of Trump and George H.W. Bush, every President since 1980 has won re-election and a second-time Person of the Year award.
Taylor Swift (+750)
The reigning Time Person of the Year is singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. Swift’s Eras Tour has taken the world by storm, and she has sold out stadiums across the globe. The tour is still going on, and the billionaire is listed at +750 to win the award again this year.
Last year was the second time Swift won Time Person of the Year and her first solo win. Swift was a part of the Silence Breakers, which won the award in 2017. A win this year would make Swift the first person to win the award in back-to-back years.
Swift would also become just the second person to win the award three times. President Franklin D. Roosevelt is currently the only person with three wins all time, winning his third award in 1941.
Her tour is still breaking records, but Swift may need to do more to secure back-to-back Time Person of the Year wins. Announcing her engagement to Travis Kelce would likely break the internet, which in turn would show her growing influence over world events. Swift announcing she is pregnant would also likely be enough to secure the award.
Elon Musk (+1200)
Tech billionaire Elon Musk is listed at +1200 in the latest Time Person of the Year odds at Bovada. Musk won the award in 2021 and was a runner-up in 2022.
Musk is one of the most public-facing billionaires in the world today. Despite being widely panned online for his failures with X and the Cybertruck, there are still plenty of people who revere the tech billionaire.
It will be challenging for anyone other than a presidential candidate to win in an election year. Since 1992, only one winner, David Ho (1996), won Time Person of the Year honors without also winning the US election that year.
Musk does have a large enough global following online to contend for the award, though. He also has time to make a splash big enough to warrant consideration. As it stands now, though, the negative impact of the failing Cybertruck may be Musk’s best chance to win his second Time Person of the Year award.
Gavin Newsom (+2500)
Another candidate to keep an eye on is Gavin Newsom. Newsom is tied with three other potential winners at +2500. The Governor of California is among the top candidates to replace Biden as the Democratic nominee if Biden drops out of the 2024 election.
Newsom is a viable late replacement for Biden on the Democratic ticket. However, the closer we get to the election, the less likely it is that Biden will willingly drop out of the race.
Even if Newsom does replace Biden, he would face an uphill battle against Trump in a presidential election. I do not see a path for Newsom to be named Time Person of the Year other than winning the 2024 election.
This award is about influence, and, despite being the Governor of the most populated state, Newsom lacks nationwide influence. He could be a candidate in future years, but I would stay away from Newsom in this wager for now.
Time Person of the Year Prediction
The Time Person of the Year award can be a way to reflect on the previous 12 months. It is awarded to the most influential person or group from the previous year. The magazine has awarded this honor to abstract winners in the past, and I believe they will do it again this week.
My pick to win Time Person of the Year is AI (+500). Ai is tied for the best odds, and I think it will get the award over either presidential candidate despite it being an election year.
Prediction: AI wins Time Person of the Year 2024 (+500)
