College Baseball World Series Odds – Outlook Before Game 1

college world series

It is a tight race at the top of the current College Baseball World Series odds. Tennessee and Texas A&M are neck-and-neck at most sportsbooks, and many sites list the schools as co-favorites.

This guide will help tell you the odds to win the 2024 College World Series for every team in this year’s tournament. Also, I will break down the latest odds at the best college baseball betting sites and give you my predictions for this year’s winner.

College World Series Outlook

Only eight teams remain in the NCAA Baseball Championship bracket this season. They will descend on Omaha this week to start the 2024 College World Series, which starts on June 14th.

The two favorites at the top of the latest College World Series betting odds are Texas A&M and Tennessee. Both schools entered the tournament as number one seeds, with the Volunteers being the number one overall seed. Two other number-one seeds, Kentucky and North Carolina, the second and fourth overall seeds, are also still alive in the tournament.

Tennessee’s status as the top overall seed could be more of a curse than a blessing. The last number-one overall seed to win the College World Series was Miami in 1999.

Three of the other four remaining teams also entered the tournament as a number one seed in their region. The only exception is the Florida Gators, who entered as a number three seed. Florida beat two number-one seeds, Oklahoma State and Clemson, to earn its spot in the College World Series.

College World Series Schedule

Your matchups in a tournament-based format can have a major impact on your chances of winning the title. Here are the round-one matchups for the eight remaining teams in the College World Series.

  • Game 1: North Carolina vs. Virginia
  • Game 2: Tennessee vs. Florida State
  • Game 3: Kentucky vs. NC State
  • Game 4: Texas A&M vs. Florida

Tennessee, Florida State, Virginia, and North Carolina are the teams in bracket one. Meanwhile, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Florida, and Georgia/NC State compose bracket two.

Unlike March Madness, the CWS is a double-elimination tournament, so one loss will not eliminate a school from play. Teams must compete within their bracket, though. For instance, the winners of Game 1 will play against the winners of Game 2, while the losers will face off in the elimination bracket.

The first games of the College World Series start on June 14th, with two games played every day through June 10th. A finale for each bracket, if necessary, will be played on June 20th. The three-game series between the winners of Bracket One and Bracket Two will start on June 22, with the winner claiming the College World Series title.

Let’s Take a Look at College World Series Betting Odds

Only eight teams remain in the chase for this year’s D1 Baseball Championship tournament. Check out the table below for the College World Series odds for every team from three of the top baseball sportsbooks: BetUS, Bovada, and BetOnline

TeamBetUS OddsBovada OddsBetOnline Odds
Tennessee+275+225+275
Texas A&M+300+275+275
Kentucky+450+450+550
North Carolina+750+800+700

Virginia+1100+1100+800
Florida+1400+1500+1400
North Carolina State+1100+1100+1400

Texas A&M

Depending on where you bet, Texas A&M has the best or second-best College World Series betting odds. The Aggies range between +275 and +300 at most secure betting sites.

Despite being a lower overall seed, Texas A&M will have an easier path to the finals than the other presumptive favorite, Tennessee. Only one other team in the Aggies’ bracket, Kentucky, was ranked in the top 12 to start the tournament.

Tennessee

The other betting favorite in the latest College World Series odds is the Tennessee Volunteers. Tennessee’s odds range between +225 and +275, and the Vols are the top overall seed in the tournament.

This is a chance for redemption for Tennessee, which was eliminated in the top eight last season. The Vols racked up 166 home runs this year, the second-most in a single season by a team in NCAA history. Tennessee’s bracket will be tough to get through, but a battle-tested Vols team could be impossible to stop in the championship series.

Kentucky

Kentucky sealed its first-ever trip to the CWS with a 2-0 series win over Oregon State. The Wildcats had to wait the longest of any team in the final eight to know their opponent. They will face NC State, who defeated Georgia on Monday to qualify for the final eight.

Sportsbooks have Kentucky listed between +450 and +550 in the updated college baseball World Series odds. The Wildcats will not play until Game 3 on June 15th, so they will have an extra day to prepare for the Wolfpack.

North Carolina

The Tarheels are making their 12th CWS appearance in school history and their first since 2018. North Carolina has been the runners-up twice, in 2006 and 2007, but it has never won the tournament. They will face a tough opening match-up against Virginia in Game 1, the first game of the 2024 CWS.

Winning against Virginia is especially crucial to keeping UNC’s title hopes alive. An elimination game against Tennessee or Florida State awaits the loser of Game 1.

Florida State

Speaking of Florida State, the Seminoles are listed between +900 and +950 in the opening College World Series odds. FSU has arguably the hardest opening matchup against Tennessee in Game 2 of the tournament.

The Seminoles won 39 games in the regular season, which was good enough to be the 10th-best team in the country. FSU has won eight of its last nine games, including five straight games in the tournament. Tennessee was the top-ranked team in the country, though, so the Seminoles’ winning streak could be coming to an end on Friday.

Virginia

Virginia has plenty of experience in the CWS, with six previous appearances in Omaha. This is the Cavaliers’ third appearance in the last four seasons. Virginia was the runner-up in 2014 and won the tournament in 2015.

The Cavaliers are looking for some redemption this season after going 0-2 in last year’s CWS. They lost their opening-round matchup to Florida and then lost to TCU in the elimination bracket. Virginia’s odds to win the College World Series range from +800 to +1100, and they face UNC in Game 1.

Florida

Speaking of teams looking for redemption in this year’s CWS, Florida also qualified for the top eight this year. Florida has the longest or second-longest College World Series betting odds at most betting sites. The Gators’ odds range from +1400 to +1600.

Florida lost in the championship series last year to LSU. The Tigers lost in the regional round this year, so the Gators do not need to worry about running into the defending champs again this year. It will still be a tough round to the championship for Florida, though, with an opening matchup against Texas A&M in Game 4.

North Carolina State

Rounding out the field for the 2024 CWS is North Carolina State. The Wolfpack was listed at +2000 or longer to win the title before beating Georgia on Monday. NC State’s College World Series odds have shortened significantly since then, even moving ahead of Florida at some sportsbooks.

The Wolfpack will open the CWS against Kentucky and then face either Texas A&M or Florida in a potential elimination game. It will be tough, but you cannot count out an NC State team that has played well for the last month.

Cheeky Wagers on the College World Series

Picking the right team to win the 2024 CWS is easier said than done. Tennessee and Texas A&M are the clear favorites, but anything can happen in this double-elimination tournament.

There is no shame in betting on either of the two favorites to win the tournament. However, recent history says that Tennessee will not win since they are the number one overall seed. The Vols could break the more than two-decade-long drought, but I think there is another team worth betting on instead.

The Gators came up one game short in last year’s CWs, losing in three to LSU in the finale. Florida had a lackluster regular season, but they have won eight of their last ten games and beaten two number-one-ranked teams in the tournament so far. I would bet on the Gators at 15-1 at Bovada to win the CWS this season.

The 2024 CWS starts this Friday, June 14th, in Omaha, Nebraska. Seven of the eight teams left standing were number-one ranked teams in the regional round. The lone exception is last year’s runner-up, Florida.
