No matter where you’re betting on soccer nowadays, Real Madrid are once again the undisputed favorites for winning the Spanish La Liga. And they have every right to be that. Why? Well, they already have one of the best squads in the world, led by the experienced maestro Luka Modrić himself. Even though they no longer have Toni Kroos, Real now has a brand-new star player in Kylian Mbappe. He’s bound to make a difference!
Favorite Teams
In this section of our La Liga title odds analysis, we’ll be taking a good hard look at the top three contenders. As always, that’s Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid. Here’s what we can expect from them coming into the 2024/25 La Liga campaign:
Real Madrid (-250)
Real Madrid are the undisputed favorites ahead of the first 2024/25 La Liga whistle. Of course, one of the key reasons is the arrival of Kylian Mbappe from PSG. But, even without the star striker, Real Madrid seems more than capable of clinching yet another title.
The likes of Bellingham and Vini Jr had a blast last time out and are likely to enjoy themselves for another season.
This will be the last season in Real Madrid for Luka Modrić too, which will give everyone that extra bit of motivation going forward. I feel like we’ve been saying that for a few years now, but there’s no way he gets another one-year contract extension after the end of 2024/25.
All things considered, Real Madrid are deservingly the odds-on favorites. It would be a proper miracle to see them miss out on the title.
Barcelona (+350)
Last season, Barcelona looked solid. They had their ups and downs, as usual, but ultimately failed to give Real Madrid a proper run for their money. Could they do something more this time around?
Well, they’ll have the luxury of having Dani Olmo as the leader of men. Barcelona’s biggest transfer this season revolves around one of the best Spanish players on their EURO-winning campaign.
Tactically speaking, Dani Olmo could be exactly what Flick needs to get his team to a new level. If he can close the deal for Kingsley Coman, Barcelona’s title chances would be that much better. But, even as things stand right now, +350 is solid value on the Catalonians.
Atletico Madrid (+1000)
The final entry of the favorites is none other than Atletico Madrid. It’s the only team that managed to spoil Barcelona’s and Real Madrid’s parties in the last two decades. The real question now is – can they do it again? Well, they have strong individuals and a solid bench. But, they weren’t really up to snuff last season, having finished fourth below Girona, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.
However, I’d like to point out the Julian Alvarez deal is finally closed. Manchester City will get roughly €75m, making this a fantastic deal for both sides. In addition to Alvarez, Simeone also brought in Robin Le Normand and Alexander Sorloth for a combined total of over €66m.
In the end, considering the squad depth and most recent arrivals and departures, Atletico Madrid’s +1000 odds possess solid value. But, I don’t think Simeone will win another season with the Atleti. Instead, I expect Madrid (or maaaaaaaybe even Barcelona) to steal the show.
Potential Contenders
If we’re talking about direct La Liga winner contenders, it’s likely to go down between the aforementioned trio. In fact, the last time a team outside the big trio was more than 20 years ago. More precisely, we’re referring to the 2003/04 season when Valencia won the league.
Girona (+2000)
Against all odds, Girona finished third last season just behind Real Madrid and Barcelona. This means Champions League football for Michel’s squad this season, which might hinder their ability to perform well in La Liga.
Why? Because they don’t really have that much squad depth coming into the 2024/25 La Liga campaign. Plus, the league’s best scorer of last season, Artem Dovbyk, is rumored to be leaving to Roma. If that deal indeed comes through, it practically means the end of Girona’s title race before the season has even begun.
Real Sociedad (+2500)
Real Sociedad is always somewhere in the mix in the upper portion of the table. Last season, Alguacil’s men took the 6th spot above the likes of Real Betis, Villarreal, and Valencia.
This was just enough to clinch European League qualifiers, which will make for an interesting European soccer campaign this season. But, as far as La Liga winner odds and predictions are concerned, I doubt you’ll have any luck with +2500 at Real Sociedad.
Dark Horses
If you’re looking for stories like the 2016 Leicester Premier League triumph, then you should explore the following La Liga dark horses:
Athletic Bilbao (+2500)
Athletic Bilbao always stays true to their ways. By that, we’re referring to their transfer policies which keep young players at the club at all costs. According to the latest developments, the club will manage to keep the talented winger Nico Williams, despite interest from several top-notch clubs.
However, even with the €70m valued 22-year-old Spaniard still playing for Athletic Bilbao, their chances of winning the title are still nowhere near the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona or Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.
Real Betis (+4000)
As the odds suggests, it is highly unlikely we’ll see Real Betis win the league this season. Even though Pellegrini is still a world-class head coach, I doubt he can ruin Real Madrid’s and Barcelona’s plans this season. With a bit of luck, we could see Betis end up with an European competition next season. But, anything more than that would be too far of a stretch.
La Liga Relegation Odds
Besides outright winner bets, lots of soccer bookies offer competitive La Liga relegation odds too. Each season, three teams with the lowest number of points are relegated. As things stand right now, the following teams are the likeliest candidates:

Las Palmas (+120)
UD Las Palmas is no joke. They have several top-notch young stars in Mika Marmol and Alberto Moleiro. We can’t forget about more seasoned players like Alvaro Valles and the captain himself, Kirian Rodriguez.
Some of the most notable arrivals this summer are certainly Scott McKenna and Oli McBurnie, both of whom will be fancying their chances this season. So, considering all that, I for one wouldn’t bet my money on Las Palmas to get relegated.
Leganes (+135)
Leganes are one of the three freshly promoted La Liga teams. Obviously, this makes them the ideal candidates for the relegations, especially knowing what a small club Leganes is. Transfermarkt values the team at just over €30m.
To put things into perspective, the two other promoted teams, Las Palmas and Espanyol, are worth €110m and €57m, respectively. So, naturally, Leganes at +135 makes perfect sense coming into the new season of La Liga.
Getafe (+160)
Getafe clinched the top level of Spanish football for the first time in the 2004/05 season. Since then, they only played one season in the Segunda and that was back in 2016/17. They’re always a bit of a hir or miss, typically right from the off.
They’re currently among the favorites for another relegation, despite finishing in comfortable 12th spot last time out. However, I can see where the bookies are coming from since Getafe lost quite a few players, including Enes Unal who departed to Bournemouth for €16.50m this summer.
