Favorite Teams
In this section, we’ll focus on the three top contenders – the only three teams which have actually won the Bundesliga title over the last two decades or so. As you might’ve guessed already, we’re referring to Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, and Borussia Dortmund. Let’s roll!
Bayern Munich (-200)
Every fairytale has to come to an end. After more than a decade of sheer dominance, Bayern Munich finish third last season. Now, they’re looking to rebuild their defensive walls and step into the new campaign with a rock-solid backline.
They already sold two important defenders to Manchester United. More could see the exit door in the coming days (I’m referring to Kingsley Coman here). On the other end of the financial loop, Bayern has already signed Olise, Palhinha, Ito, and Bryan Zaragoza. Eric Dier came in as a free transfer to further boost the defensive end.
Keep in mind that Bayern will need to make a few more moves to patch things up on the defensive end. If they don’t, I wouldn’t bet on them to get right back up and win the league.
Bayer Leverkusen (+275)
What’s there to be said about Bayer Leverkusen’s last season? They ended up winning the Bundesliga without a single loss. They stopped Bayern’s decade of dominance… and with some style, if I may add.
The likes of Wirtz, Frimpong, Grimaldo, Palacios, and Boniface are still alive and kicking. They’re definitely going to be the leaders of men this season. Plus, Leverkusen spent more than €50m combined to sign Aleix Garcia, Martin Terrier, and Jeanuel Belocian. The latter two are from Rennes and could prove to be instant Bundesliga hits. But, will that be enough for Leverkusen to win back-to-back Bundesliga titles?
Borussia Dortmund (+1100)
Borussia Dortmund simply isn’t what it once was. They kept selling their most promising players season in and season out. Now they’re left with a shell of their former team. No Aubameyang, no Lewandowski, no Reus, no Bellingham, no Sancho. The current Borussia Dortmund squad doesn’t breathe in too much confidence. Still, the Bundesliga odds for them to win are at “just” +1100. If you like your money, though, you should stay away from this one.
Potential Contenders
If the aforementioned trio aren’t good enough for you or you’re simply interested in high-risk high-reward games, then you’ll love the following:
RB Leipzig (+1400)
Dani Olmo’s move to Barcelona is all wrapped up. The talented Spaniard attacking midfielder is going back to his true home in an effort to bring the La Liga title back to the Catalonians.
Without him, unfortunately, this just isn’t the same RB Leipzig we once knew. Yes, the team still has a plethora of high-quality individuals. They’re also going to spend their extra transfer funds wisely. The likes of Antonio Nusa and Assan Ouedraogo are bound to be helpful coming into this campaign. But, unless they sign another superstar, I expect Marco Rose’s team to be in a difficult fight for one of the top 4 spots.
Stuttgart (+3500)
Stuttgart had a fantastic season last time out! In the end, they finished in second place, right above Bayern Munich on the last matchday. Stuttgart already had quite a few transfer moves this summer.
More precisely, they earned over €65m from selling several important players, but spent them right back (€64m) to maximize their potential ahead of the 2024/25 Bundesliga season. However, despite a fantastic run last time out, there’s just no way they can outperform that season and go anywhere near the top two spots again.
Dark Horses
The title is bound to go down between the 5 aforementioned teams. However, for the sake of thoroughness, let’s examine the two most potent dark horses this season:
Eintracht Frankfurt (+8000)
Next up, Eintracht Frankfurt. As mentioned earlier, these are not realistic title contenders, but are worth pointing out… especially if you’re a fan of Bundesliga top 4 odds. That said, Eintracht could be the perfect choice for high-value hunters.
They sold Willian Pacho to PSG for €40m and those shoes will have to be filled if Eintracht is to clinch a European competition next season. On the bright side, Hugo Ekitike, Robin Koch, and Can Uzun seem like the perfect strategic fits going forward. But, for Champions League soccer next season, they’ll need a lot more than that.
Borussia Monchengladbach (+10000)
Last season, Borussia Monchengladbach finished 14th, barely surviving relegation with just a point to spare from the relegation playoffs. They just couldn’t win matches. They ended the campaign with 13 draw, which was a major reason behind such a poor placement.
On paper, Seoane’s team looks quite good. They look like a proper middle-of-the-pack team with aspirations toward Conference League soccer next season. But, campaigns aren’t played on paper, and Monchengladbach is the perfect example of that.
While they did bring in the likes of Tim Kleindienst and Philipp Sander, they’ll need much more to clinch European football next season. So, in other words, Borussia Monchengladbach is a no-go!
Bundesliga Relegation Odds
We’re all done with Bundesliga title odds, so it’s only logical to say a few words about the relegation race too. Obviously, soccer betting sites like BetUS and Bovada already have a ton of Bundesliga relegation odds to showcase. Let’s have ourselves a closer look:
Team | Odds |
Holstein Kiel | +105 |
St Pauli | +160 |
FC Heidenheim | +220 |
Bochum | +250 |
Augsburg | +300 |
Mainz | +500 |
Werder Bremen | +600 |
Union Berlin | +600 |
Freiburg | +600 |
Hoffenheim | +1100 |
Keep in mind these are the odds for the top ten likeliest Bundesliga candidates. Realistically, there’s no way a team outside of these ten will get relegated at the end of the season.
Holstein Kiel
First up, the most obvious choice here – Holstein Kiel. They’re finally in the Bundesliga and can consider themselves lucky they’re here. And while they did end the season on a high note, finishing second with just one less point than St Pauli, I doubt they’ll manage to stay up for another season. They did bring a few players in too, but they’re not exactly Bundesliga worthy.
So, considering all that, Holstein Kiel is the odds-on favorite to be relegated at the end of this season. But, at +105, it might not exactly be the greatest value. So, I guess the good old saying works well here – choose your poison wisely!
St Pauli
The sole fact that St Pauli finally qualified for the Bundesliga ought to mean a lot to one of the most active soccer fanbases in the world. They’re always electric in their celebrations and well-deserving of being in the top-tier German league.
However, I doubt we’ll see them survive their inaugural Bundesliga season. They will struggle right from the off and I doubt they’ll be able to keep up with the rest of the competition. So yeah, +160 for St Pauli to be relegated seems like a rather safe bet.
Bundesliga Odds Summary
Looking back at their last season’s magnificent performance, one could easily go with Bayer Leverkusen to win back-to-back Bundesliga titles and be done with it. I for one am likely to go down that route too. AT +250, it’s great value for the reigning champions.
However, Bayern Munich has big plans coming into the 2024/25 campaign. They already sold several notable stars and are likely to bring in several new arrivals alongside those we already mentioned earlier.
Long story short, bookies know what they’re doing. Despite a lackluster season last time out, Bayern has more than enough financial leeway and quality players to get right back to their winning ways.
