Country Music Association Awards Odds 2024
The 2024 CMA Awards are scheduled for Wednesday, November 20th. NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning will join country music stars Luke Bryan and Lainey Wilson as the host of the 58th annual awards. There are over a dozen categories at this year’s awards, including:
- Album of the Year
- Entertainer of the Year
- Female Vocalist of the Year
- Male Vocalist of the Year
- Single of the Year
Let’s take a closer look at the odds for the top categories at the 2024 CMA awards.
Album of the Year
- Higher – Chris Stapleton (-350)
- Whitsitt Chapel – Jelly Roll (+500)
- Fathers & Sons – Luke Combs (+600)
- Deeper Well – Kacey Musgraves (+1000)
- Leather – Cody Johnson (+1500)
Chris Stapleton has been a regular at the CMA Awards for nearly a decade. He has won 14 CMA awards in his career, and Stapleton is the -350 favorite to win Album of the Year this year for Higher.
If you count From a Room volumes one and two as one album, then Higher is Stapleton’s fourth album. He won Album of the Year for his previous three releases. Making it challenging to bet against him here.
Whitsitt Chapel by Jelly Roll (+500) and Fathers & Sons by Luke Combs (+600) are distant seconds and thirds, respectively. Deeper Well by Kacey Musgraves (+1000) and Leather by Cody Johnson (+1500) round out the list of this year’s nominees.
Combs (2020, 2022) and Musgraves (2018) have won this category before. Jelly Roll and Cody Johnson are first-time nominees for this award.
Entertainer of the Year
- Lainey Wilson (-250)
- Chris Stapleton (+600)
- Jelly Roll (+600)
- Luke Combs (+600)
- Morgan Wallen (+1000)
Lainey Wilson is one of the three hosts for this year’s CMA Awards. She is also the betting favorite to win Entertainer of the Year at -250 odds. Wilson won the award last year and will become the 13th person with multiple wins if she is named the Entertainer of the Year this year.
Chris Stapleton, Jelly Roll, and Luke Combs are tied for the second-best odds at +600. According to secure sportsbooks, Morgan Wallen is the fifth of the five nominees at +1000.
Stapleton has never won this award, and this is his eighth nomination in the last nine years. Wallen is also searching for his first win, and this is his third nomination. Jelly Roll is nominated for Entertainer of the Year for the first time.
Luke Combs has won this category twice in his previous four nominations. If he wins, Combs will tie Alabama, Alan Jackson, and George Strait for the third-most wins of all time. Only Garth Brooks (7) and Kenny Chesney (4) would have more.
Female Vocalist of the Year
- Lainey Wilson (-400)
- Megan Moroney (+450)
- Kelsea Ballerini (+700)
- Kacey Musgraves (+1000)
- Ashley McBryde (+2000)
Lainey Willson (-400) is also the betting favorite to win Female Vocalist of the Year. She has won it every year she has been nominated. Wilson can become the seventh woman with three or more wins if she claims the title again this year.
Megan Moroney has the best odds of stopping a Wilson three-peat at +450. Kelsea Ballerini has the third-best odds at +700. Kacey Musgraves and Ashley McBryde round out the nominees at +1000 and +2000, respectively.
Wilson has won this award in back-to-back years and is a heavy favorite in this year’s betting odds. Musgraves (2019) has also won once before. Ballerini and McBryde have been nominated multiple times but have never won, and Moroney is a first-time nominee.
Male Vocalist of the Year
- Chris Stapleton (-300)
- Jelly Roll (+250)
- Luke Combs (+1000)
- Cody Johnson (+1500)
- Morgan Wallen (+1500)
Chris Stapleton is the betting favorite among the Male Vocalist of the Year nominees. Stapleton has seven wins, the most ever, and is listed at -300 to win the award again this year. All seven of Stapleton’s wins have come since 2015, and he has won this award three years in a row.
Luke Combs (2019, 2020) is the only other nominee who has won this category before. He is listed at +1000 to win his third Male Vocalist of the Year award. Cody Johnson and Morgan Wallen have been nominated for the second time in as many years, and Jelly Roll is a first-time nominee.
Beating Stapleton for this award is easier said than done, but Combs has done it twice. Jelly Roll (+250) is making his debut in this category, and his uniqueness among other country artists makes him an intriguing betting option.
Single of the Year
- “White Horse” – Chris Stapleton (-200)
- “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” – Shaboozey (+300)
- “I Had Some Help” – Post Malone ft. Morgan Wallen (+600)
- “Watermelon Moonshine” – Lainey Wilson (+600)
- “Dirt Cheap” – Cody Johnson (+1000)
Last but not least, there is the Single of the Year award. Stapleton is the -200 favorite in this category for his song “White Horse,” the first single from his album Higher. Stapleton has won this award twice, for “Starting Over” in 2021 and “Broken Halos” in 2019.
“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey has the second-best odds at +300. “I Had Some Help” by Post Malone ft. Morgan Wallen is tied with “Watermelon Moonshine” by Lainey Wilson for the third-best odds at +600. Cody Johnson’s “Dirt Cheap” has the longest odds of any nominee at +1000.
Cody Johnson won this award for “Til You Can’t” in 2022, and Lainey Wilson has been nominated twice before but has never won. All of the other contenders are first-time nominees for Single of the Year.
CMA Awards 2024 Predictions
The 58th Country Music Association Awards are just weeks away. Here are my CMA Awards 2024 predictions.
Album of the Year – Higher by Chris Stapleton (-350)
Chris Stapleton’s “Higher” is the -350 for Album of the Year, and I think it will win the award. Stapleton has released four albums before “Higher,” and three of them won Album of the Year.
Luke Combs is also nominated for his album Fathers & Sons. Combs has won this category before and is a threat to win again this year. Stapleton’s track record with this award is better, though, and I believe he will win it.
Entertainer of the Year – Jelly Roll (+600)
Three of the five nominees for Entertainer of the Year are tied at 6-1 odds for the award. Jelly Roll is one of the artists tied for second place, and I think he will win the award. He won New Artist of the Year last year and is nominated in multiple other categories at the 58th CMA Awards.
All the nominees are worthy of this honor, but Jelly Roll is my pick. In April, he won Best New Pop Artist and Best New Country Artist at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. He also won Male Country Artist of the Year at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards.
Female Vocalist of the Year – Lainey Wilson (-400)
Lainey Wilson, the two-time defending Female Vocalist of the Year, is one of the hosts for this year’s CMA Awards. Wilson will have a busy night and is a favorite in multiple categories.
Wilson is listed at -400 to win her third straight Female Vocalist of the Year award, and I think she will pull off the hat trick. Winning multiple years in a row is common in the Men’s category, but Wilson is the first woman to win back-to-back awards since Miranda Lambert. I think Wilson will continue to follow in Lambert’s footsteps and win again this year.
Male Vocalist of the Year – Chris Stapleton (-300)
Speaking of the Male Vocalist of the Year category, Chris Stapleton is the -300 favorite this year. He has won seven of the last nine years and is the winningest singer in this category. Stapleton will extend his record to eight this year.
Single of the Year – “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” – Shaboozey (+300)
Rounding out my CMA Awards predictions is the Single of the Year category. Stapleton’s “White Horse” is the favorite at -200, but “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey (+300) is my pick. At the time of writing, the song has over 877 million streams on Spotify, the most of any nominee and nearly four times that of “White Horse” (213 million).
