2024 Tour de France Odds and Expert Pick
Despite winning the event in back-to-back years, Jonas Vingegaard is not the favorite in this year’s Tour de France odds. He is near the top of the odds boards, but Vingegaard is behind the overall favorite, Tadej Pogačar.
This cycling betting guide will break down the latest odds for the Tour de France 2024. I will cover the odds on the top cyclists in this year’s race at the best online sports betting sites and give you my predictions.
2024 Tour de France Odds
The Tour de France officially begins on Saturday, June 29th. It starts in Florence, Italy, and will end in Nice, France. For the first time in nearly 50 years, the race will not finish in Paris, as the French capital is hosting the 2024 Olympics.
Here are the current Tour de France betting odds, courtesy of Bovada Sportsbook.
Cyclist | Odds for Tour de France | Finish in 2023 |
Tadej Pogačar | -185 | 2nd place |
Jonas Vingegaard | +260 | 1st place |
Primož Roglič | +800 | N/A |
Remco Evenepoel | +1600 | N/A |
Adam Yates | +2800 | 3rd place |
Carlos Rodriguez | +3300 | 5th place |
Juan Ayuso | +3300 | N/A |
Joao Almeida | +4000 | N/A |
Matteo Jorgenson | +4000 | DNF |
Simon Yates | +6600 | 4th place |
Tadej Pogačar (-185)
Tadej Pogačar (-185) will enter this year’s race as the odds-on favorite to win the 2024 Tour de France. He is a two-time champion, claiming the yellow jersey in both 2019 and 2020. However, since then, Pogačar has finished second in back-to-back races.
It is challenging to imagine Pogačar not being a finalist this year. However, he will have more to overcome than just a challenging course. Pogačar recently battled COVID-19 in the weeks leading up to the Tour de France.
According to Pogačar, he has fully recovered from the illness. However, the respiratory illness will undoubtedly impact his training and could affect his conditioning.
Jonas Vingegaard (+260)
The rider with the best odds of defeating Pogačar this year is Jonas Vingegaard. He has won the race the last two years and is listed at +260 in the latest odds on the Tour de France 2024.
Winning three Tour de France races in a row is easier said than done. Luckily for Vingegaard, he only needs one more win to pull off the feat. A win this year would make Vingegaard the first cyclist to three-peat since Chris Froome did it in 2015 to 2017.
Vingegaard was more than seven minutes ahead of Pogačar last year, finishing in 82 hours, five minutes, and 42 seconds. His time last year was more than two and a half hours slower than his winning time in 2022.
Primož Roglič (+800)
Slovenian cyclist Primož Roglič will make his return to the Tour de France this year. He skipped the race last year, choosing to focus on winning the Vuelta a Espana instead.
Roglič came up short of a fourth victory in the Vuelta, which could give him extra motivation in the Tour de France this year. Roglič finished second in 2020 but did not finish in 2021 or 2022. He missed the Giro d’Italia this year and should have fresh legs for this year’s Tour de France.
A win in France would be Roglič’s second Gran Tour victory of his career. Roglič won the gold in the time trials at the 2020 Olympics and should not be counted out of any race he is competing in.
Remco Evenepoel (+1600)
Belgian cyclist Remco Evenepoel is looking to make a huge impression during his Tour de France debut. Evenepoel is listed at +1600 in Bovada’s 2024 Tour de France odds.
So far, Evenepoel has had mixed results in Grand Tour events. He has competed in the Giro d’Italia twice but did not finish either time. On the other hand, he won the Vuelta a Espana in his debut in 2022 and came in 12th last year.
Winning a Grand Tour in your debut is extremely unlikely. Evenepoel has already done it once, but it seems unlikely that he will have similar success in France. He certainly has the talent to win, though, and at +1600, the 24-year-old offers a lot of value.
Adam Yates (+2800)
Rounding out the top five in the Tour de France odds in 2024 is Adam Yates. He finished third last year and is listed at +2800 to win the race this year.
Yates is one of the top British cyclists in the world today. However, “The Shadow” is still searching for his first Grand Tour win. The Tour de France has been Yates’ best Grand Tour event, as he has finished in the top 10 four times.
Yates’ third-place finish last year is the best of his career so far. He has also finished in the top 10 in each of his last three appearances in the event. If he can take another step forward, then this could be the year Yates finally breaks through.
Who Will Win the Tour de France?
Dozens of the world’s best cyclists will compete in Paris this summer in the Tour de France. Paris is also hosting the Olympics, so there will be plenty on the line in France in the coming weeks.
Only one cyclist can win the yellow jersey in Nice, France. Tadej Pogačar (-185) is the odds-on Tour de France favorite heading into this year’s race. He has come in second the last two years, and I think Pogačar will finally get his third yellow jersey this year.
Pogačar has finished in the top-two four straight years. He has never finished worse than second in the event, and he won the Giro d’Italia earlier this year.
Prediction: Tadej Pogačar wins the 2024 Tour de France (-185)
2024 Tour de France Prop Odds
In addition to betting on the outright winner, there are plenty of exciting props available in Bovada’s Tour de France odds 2024. Here are three of my favorite props for this year’s race.
King of the Mountains Winner
- Tadej Pogačar (+325)
- Giulio Ciccone (+450)
- Richard Carapaz (+800)
- Jonas Vingegaard (+900)
The polka dot jersey is not as prestigious as the yellow one, but plenty of cyclists will be competing to become King of the Mountains. According to secure sports betting sites, Tadej Pogačar (+325) is the favorite to win the jersey this year.
Giulio Ciccone is a close second at +450, with Richard Carapaz (+800) and Jonas Vingegaard (+900) rounding out the top four. I picked Pogačar to win the race outright, and reaching the mountain summits first would help him stay in the lead. With that in mind, I would bet on Pogačar in this prop as well.
Prediction: Tadej Pogačar is the King of the Mountains winner (+325)
Points Classification Winner
- Jasper Philipsen (-175)
- Wout van Aert (+500)
- Mads Pedersen (+600)
- Arnaud De Lie (+900)
You can also wager on the points classification winner at this year’s Tour de France. Jasper Philipsen (-175) is the favorite in the latest odds for this Your de France odds.
Wout van Aert is a distant second at +500, followed closely by Mads Pedersen and Arnaud De Lie at +600 and +900, respectively. Philipsen won the points classification last year, but he lost to van Aert in 2022. I think van Aert can win again, and I would bet on him at +500 in this prop wager.
Prediction: Wout van Aert is the Points Classification winner (+500)
Team Classification Winner
- UAE Team Emirates (-175)
- Ineos Grenadiers (+300)
- Bora-Hansgrohe (+800)
- Bahrain Victorious (+1200)
- Team Visma-Lease A Bike (+1400)
Another popular prop wager for the Tour de France is to wager on the Team Classification winner. Bovada has UAE Team Emirates as the -175 favorite in this wager. Ineos Grenadiers have the next-best odds at +300.
Bora-Hansgrohe (+800), Bahrain Victorious (+1200), and Team Visma-Lease A Bike (+1400) round out the top five. The winner of this classification is the team whose cyclists have the best collective performance in the general classification.
Team Jumbo-Visma won last year and recently changed its name to Team Visma-Lease A Bike. Despite being the reigning champs, they have just the fifth-best odds to win this year.
A big reason for this is that UAE Team Emirates has many big names on its roster. For instance, Tadej Pogačar, Adam Yates, and Juan Ayuso all race under the UAE Team Emirates banner. I think they are a worthy favorite and will take home the win this season.
Prediction: UAE Team Emirates wins the Team Classification (-175)
